Welcome to Severn Edge Equine Vets. We are a dedicated equine practice offering a full range of mobile veterinary services, along with specialist support, to the horse owners of Shropshire & parts of the West Midlands. We aim to provide the best clinical care for your horse, pony or donkey and excellent customer service to you.
Routine Equine Procedures
Severn Edge Equine provides comprehensive first opinion veterinary care to horse owners across Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. We aim to offer a friendly and thorough service for our clients with a combination of an experienced, knowledgeable team and state of the art mobile technology.
Pre Purchase Examinations
At Severn Edge Equine we have an experienced team able to offer both 2 and 5 stage level Pre Purchase Examinations.
Buying a horse is an exciting time, our experienced team will work with you and advise on the correct level of vetting that you will need. Where possible we would encourage clients to have a 5 stage vetting including blood sampling, this allows us to examine the horse before, after and during exercise.
Equine Planned Visit Days
Alongside our regular equine veterinary visits, we offer a Planned Visit Scheme, which allow us to visit you on a set day for a reduced visit fee. The areas are worked out by post codes and are set for that particular day each week. Within these visits we offer routine veterinary work such as vaccinations, dentals and re-examinations for your particular day.
Dentistry
It is very important to have your horse’s mouth regularly and thoroughly examined – at least once every year. At the Severn Edge Equine Vets we are all equipped with a full set of modern floats with Tungsten Carbide blades and Haussmann gags to allow clear and safe examination and rasping. We also use electric rasps as standard which allows precise reduction of large overgrowths that would be impossible to remove with manual rasps.
Poor Performance Investigation
When a horse stops performing to their expected level, there can be a long list of possible explanations. At Severn Edge Equine we have a team of vets that have a particular interest in investigating such cases. A logical diagnostic approach is critical, we will take a thorough history from you before examining the horse in detail, then discussing the findings with the owner or trainer and coming up with a plan
Nutrition and Weighbridge
Within the team at Severn Edge Equine we are able to come and offer nutritional advice and mobile weighbridge services. Managing your horse’s intake to not only ensure peak performance but also the correct Body Condition Score (BCS) can be a minefield. Speak to the team today about how we can help you with this.
Ambulatory Veterinary Care
Our large and experienced team of equine veterinary surgeons can provide all aspects of ambulatory veterinary care for your horse and have access to the latest portable equipment, such as X-ray, ultrasound and endoscope, which means that most procedures can be carried out at your yard. If required, Specialist veterinary support is provided by the team of Specialists at the B&W Equine Referral Hospital in Gloucestershire, with whom we have a close working relationship.
Our friendly office and reception team are based in Bridgnorth Shropshire and are on hand to assist with all your admin needs.
As you would expect, we provide 24-hours emergency veterinary cover, with our emergency out-of-hours phone line being answered by qualified nurses, which means that they are better placed to understand your emergency and provide advice whilst you wait for the vet.
